With all the changes going on in the store, I think more than a few department managers are worried about pay-if they have to drop a level because of the merging of departments. I know of some that have been here for 20+ years that if they had another source of income they'd be outta here. I know one who is working on that, can't blame her, no one wants to be paranoid at work, but Wal fosters this.
I can't stand the attitude of "the workers suck, they'll eat anything we throw at them, they have to, ha ha", Wal has become more than ever a company that doesn't care about it's workers. Makes you think something is wrong financially with the company, because a company that thrives has confidence to invest in it's workers instead of weed them out. I think there is age discrimination going on, yeah, I'm in the over 18 category (over 40 for that matter). We could use about 80 more workers at our store. Wal couldn't care less about the stresses our people go through because we have to cover other departments.
One of our assistant managers likes to bully workers-wouldn't know how to coax a bee to honey-she is hated throughout the store. She has had numerous complaints on her that would have gotten anyone else fired. How do ass. mgrs. get away with what they do? Because they do the dirty work of the store and co managers-the company overall. Respect for the individual?? They want trained monkeys which we are not.
Another is not as bad, but she is not the brightest thing walking. No one at the store trusts her, she gossips about other co-workers. These two should be fired. How does Wal cover up for people like this? "They're goofy so it's not their fault..."???
It seems we'll never have enough cashiers, we don't pay enough, they don't stay because they don't get their breaks on time-even the under 18 year olds-let one pissed off mother make an issue of that-the customers are pissed and call or write home office because it takes forever to check out.
Makes you wonder, Jim Cramer of "Mad Money" doesn't recommend WalMart stock anymore. It makes me want to stop buying it, but I still am, but that could change. I don't see it going up until a democrat gets in the white house. I think all the money we've spent on the war on Iraq might have something to do with the stock price, as the company seems to run a small profit margin. And of course, the board members continue to make huge extravagant salaries, being able to sell their huge amounts of stock, if they put all that in their pockets, how nice for them.
They've BEEN growing too much-the recent sale of stores in South Korea shows that they can't handle what they have. And Germany's market is not doing well, they need to dump that. Quit growing, try to do the right thing with what you have-treat your employees right-then maybe they'd have a better return on their stock. I'd like to see what would happen if all the employees would quit buying stock. They should consider that employees spend a big percentage of their paychecks in their own store, and that we do buy stock, come raise time, but they could not care less.
I think the stock price will stay flat for a few years.
I am a former walmart employee, I bought stock while I was employed. I get statements in the mail telling me how much stock I had and interest and such. Now I have been getting statements claiming I have sold a fraction of a share, but I have not received any money for this sale, it also states that I have no other shares. Where did all my stock go and who got the money from it, it sure wasn't me
If I recall, once you stop working for walmart, and decide to keep your stock you are responsible for its upkeep. That cost money, and if you fail to pay for it. They will sell stock to pay for the upkeep. (Silly isnt it?)
What the company called anyway for walmart stock? I was recently fired, (Number 14 for the month!) and I dont want to pay the upkeep fee's.
