i would like to know why in some of the supercenters the assistant managers feel that the grocery side of the store takes presidence over any other part of the store especially the front end when the front end is the first and the last part of the store that the customer see's the assistants feel the front end doesn't count and all they can think of is to pull from the front before we even have a chance to do any of the nessary work up there please explain why the front end doesn't count when we are suppose to be a viable part of the sales actually the front is listed as second after recieving not third or forth after grocery as they would have us to believe
Its too bad that you feel that Managers don't feel that the front end of the store matters. In my store, all of the managers are good about every department. I understand why they take grocery more seriuosly though, grocery is the most hit department. More customers visit the grocery department then any other department. The only departments that seem to beat out grocery is electronics and Pharmacy prescriptions.
What happened to Wal-Mart Ethics re: if an assistant manager is dating/spending nights & weekends with a department manager - in the past anyone 'involved' with a superior - both the assistant manager and the department mgr would have been dismissed - now they don't even seem to get a slap on the hand. What happened to the 'morals' that use to be part of the backbone of Wal-Mart as a 'family store' - now it is just a 'den of who can 'play with' whom. When will 'morals' once again play a factor in Wal-Mart ethics????
My concern is the same as the ones made above - I really feel the founding father - Sam Walton - would be cringing at what is going on behind the scenes currently at Wal-Mart. I really feel he though since we are a family store - that our 'morals' should be above reproach - but anymore they are not. Now if an Assistant Mgr becomes involved totally with a Department Mgr - inside the store as well as outside the store - as a reprimand they send the Asst Mgr to a new store to help bring it out of the ground for a few weeks, but then all will continue - because once again the 'Family Store' Wal-mart no longer as any moral backbone.

I do feel as if more importance gets placed on grocerie departments. I also feel it is very just though. Lets look at the facts 1.) in grocerie there is a higher potentialfor shrink due to spoilage and failure to rotate and things of that nature. 2.) A averrage shopper will only come in once every 2 weeks to buy there average GM product lets say for instance Toothpaste tooth brush AND SO FORTH But grocerie people come in throughout the week to buy milk , eggs and what ever they may need alot of impulse. 3.)Most times grocerie sales carry the store in profit magine Because of the simple fact that not everyone needs the latest hot electronic Item but Everyone needs to eat. On to the front end and its importants, well it is only the single most important area in the store because the people greeter is the first person the consumer see's and the last person they see and they set the mood for the customer. The cashiers are very important because they take the brunt or the pat on the back. The brunt for all the customers that run into mechandise they want but dont have rude sales associates who have been jaded by customers with vandetas, and pat on the back when everything is great. The situation with the alchohol, if Walmart as a company wants to keep flurashing as a company then they have to be always on the lookout for a way to stretch the profit margins if that means selling alchohol. Now that doesnt mean that Walmart as a company endorces drinking and driving or alchoholism but thats why you must be over 21 to buy alchohol so you can be adult enough to make good desicions.
Aye, I agree.. Grocery is one of the more important departments, that includes dairy, frozen, meat, produce, bakery, and deli as well as drinks which can take up alot of help even more so if they are short handed but the cashiers, where I work, on the overnight crew there are roughly at least 3 to 4 cashiers there a night, they have to help stock the front end, run the registers (mainly just the smokers aisle that stays open all night), put up returns, and fill in wherever they are needed when they can be.. I agree all the way that they do not get the attention and thanks that they deserve but hardly anyone does but at least our management staff tells us every night and before we leave in the morning thank you for the hard work and such..
Why does WalMart even have a fraternization policy. I was a pharmacy associate for the Draper Neighborhood Market in Utah. The store manager asked me out and soon we started sleeping together. I have heard from friends that he has slept with two young girls from his new store. I feel that if the Pharmacy DM and Regional Manger, who knew of the relationship had fired us like they should have, Roger Pete Daniels, from the Downtown SLC WalMart, would not have been able to hurt more girls that work under him. The Regional Manager and Pharmacy DM who turned thier heads to this relationship should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm new to the post but I have read most of the comments and sad to say that it is really disgusting how upper management choose to ignore important social issues and its effect, such as assistant mgrs (male & females) sleeping with their subornates . Namely,store#1842 is clearly in violation of the "morals clause" outlined in the Walmart hand book. Obviously this type of behavior though tolerated, coming from a superior not only undermines the integrity of Walmart but also compromises the trust and respect for those under their leadership. No such thing as secrets especially on 3rd shift. Things done in the dark ALWAYS HAVE A WAY OF COMING TO LIGHT even if it is seen through the eyes of a customer in the parking lot. Human Resources need to do a better job of investigating their workers, after all nothing is free even if payment comes in the form of privilage and special favors. Any member of management willing to ignore morals and values from an ethical perspective by compromising their position in exchange for sex does not respect themselves. Further, as they continue to abuse their postition clearly they don't deserve the title it represents. For Walmart upper management to stand by and do nothing simply illustrates their mis-representation of wholesome family values to the public.
For those of you who think were disgruntled employees, you are right, because the problems are all relative and they are all the same,in every state, in every store, the problem is not the employees, the issue is walmarts new standards and unenforced policies period.
I need help. My husband and his girlfriend are both Walmart employees. They worked in the same store in the same department when they became close and soon she was moving into my house right after (days after) I got most (not all) of my things moved into storage for our trial separation. He claimed there was no one else but since they were in love all over facebook and she had moved into my house immediately upon my departure, I know they had been emotionally intimate prior to the separation. She was the cause of it I found out through a mutual friend. She has since changed departments but something is wrong with this picture. Oh yeah, she is 24 and my husband is 47. Any ideas on what I can do about this?

I am so happy for my asst mgr, our district office Personel person (Deb Hill) and the office mgr for our personel office.. they are off on a 3 day weekend.. Oh yes.. most of all ... don't you think you could have taken care of paying me for the personal day that wasn't on my paycheck because my Asst Mgr forgot to ok it.. before you left? Thanks a lot.. I can see just how much the employees at walmart mean to our upper management.. enjoy your 3 day weekend.. appreciate all the love and support you people show those of us who keep our store afloat.. next time maybe you can take care of current business before you haul butt for the door for your 3 day weekend.. I had worked for WalMart for 3 years. At first I was a cashier and was doing great until I was made a CSM. The management had put alot of responsibilities on the CSMs and doesn't give them any recognition. There were a couple of CSMs that really work their asses off and still the management keep adding more duties. There was this one particular CSM that really understood the cashiers, cartpushers, and the courtesy desk people. She worked so hard and when they fired her, we were so heartbroken. The reason behind her being fired was that these managers had their favorites and they give them excuses, but when it came to her they got rid of her. I believe that these managers don't care if that CSM give them her best. She deserves to be hired back and be given a better pay than these asshole managers. The assistant managers can't even do the CSM duties. They just yell at them in front of customers and don't give them the recognition that they deserve.
Wal-Mart does not review all the policies to their associates and they find a way to fire someone if they are not their kind. The managers and assitant managers all have their favorites. These people kiss their asses and are given so many breaks and they don't get fired. I remember one customer service worker cussed out a customer on the phone and just walked off the job. The manager didn't even fire him. To me that was unethical of them. What they did was moved him into another department. I could tell that he is one of their favorite. He broke the policy of being unethical. All the managers should be fired for that. Why does the district manager do anything about this. I was fired for integrity issue, but it's ok for other people to be given excuses and still nothing was done to them.
whatever happened to being a family store? the three abscence policy and "no exception" attitude. i say this becuase early this year i was diagnosed with cancer had a roll over car accident and my was sick with a 104.5 fever and in the hospital. i lost 2 pints of blood IN THE STORE and they still gave me a dday for these abscences. had a coaching for a coupon done wrong already. i was on loa for 9 months and when i came back i fought it tooth and nail mt store manager refused to do anything about it saying "were only fallowing policy" well far as i knew policy was coatching within reason. well, she did nothing until i went to hr and when they emailed her she immidietly decided to release that penalty (i had already brought in all proof needed) exsplaining to me "im taking it off because i beleive everyone deserves a second chance" .... a second chance? like i had any choice in these situations. aug! ill never think of walmart the same again, but its not like they care. a family store? seems to me they have no value of human life at all!
Well I am still a associate at Walmart, i got wrote up for running out of chemical in the photo department but 3 males had done the same thing before me and they did not get wrote up and one male after me, Yes I am female,i got a hold of ethic department and they wanted the dates of all of them . well of course I didn't have the dates so did NOTHING. I transferred to a different store so I could see a Assistant Manager in less than 6 month the new store had me on a D Day BTW I had did almost 7 years with that one write up. I stepped down to go to different store from Dept manager to Cashier, Being cashier I have serious back problems and it came that I was in serious pain so I went on a Leave of Absents per my Doctor, the specialist said it i was to dangerous to do surgery on my back. When I took my papers for my LOA in I was told in front of my Assistant Manager Boyfriend that my job was on the line the the personal Manager because I took LOA. I have been off work since May 22, 2010 I got 4 months of short term disability and they they would not give me anymore said I did not qualify. I asked if I could do a sit down job due to the fact that I can not stand more than 15 minutes at a time, I was told NO Walmart has no sit down job. Had I been able to have a sit down job I could have went back to work the first month. Walmart is suppose to be a Family Oriented business yeah right, They are a bunch of lies and scammers. Yo this day I am still on LOA and every time I take my paperwork in I get some kinda nasty comment, Upper Management will not speak to me and have gotten all associate not to talk to me. They know what they are if you don't get in with the click or kiss there butts you ca for get it. I have been told that I was illegally parked when other's were parked beside me but no one said a word to them. i have developed a serious depression problem, I cry all the time and do you think the Walmart,INC cares, I depend on my pay only as I am not married, I have begged and borrowed from people to keep going. I am about to give up. I can't quit cause I won't get my unemployment so I just have to wait for them to fire me and hope I can get unemployment. The people that are in charge of Walmart corp need to get a life, they are being beat out in sales by places like meijer, target and other people and they wonder why because half the associates that work there are just plain rude to customers. they treat their assistants like they are scum. They worked in the same store in the same department when they became close and soon she was moving into my house right after (days after) I got most (not all) of my things moved into storage for our trial separation. He claimed there was no one else but since they were in love all over facebook and she had moved into my house immediately upon my departure, I know they had been emotionally intimate prior to the separation. She was the cause of it I found out through a mutual friend. She has since changed departments but something is wrong with this picture. Oh yeah, she is 24 and my husband is 47. Any ideas on what I can do about this?

I am so happy for my asst mgr, our district office Personel person (Deb Hill) and the office mgr for our personel office.. they are off on a 3 day weekend.. Oh yes.. most of all ... don't you think you could have taken care of paying me for the personal day that wasn't on my paycheck because my Asst Mgr forgot to ok it.. before you left? Thanks a lot.. I can see just how much the employees at walmart mean to our upper management.. enjoy your 3 day weekend.. appreciate all the love and support you people show those of us who keep our store afloat.. next time maybe you can take care of current business before you haul butt for the door for your 3 day weekend.. Oh yeah.. also thanks for following up on this problem by THURSDAY, which was what I was told when I filed my complaint..
I had worked for WalMart for 3 years. At first I was a cashier and was doing great until I was made a CSM. The management had put alot of responsibilities on the CSMs and doesn't give them any recognition. There were a couple of CSMs that really work their asses off and still the management keep adding more duties. There was this one particular CSM that really understood the cashiers, cartpushers, and the courtesy desk people. She worked so hard and when they fired her, we were so heartbroken. The reason behind her being fired was that these managers had their favorites and they give them excuses, but when it came to her they got rid of her. I believe that these managers don't care if that CSM give them her best. She deserves to be hired back and be given a better pay than these asshole managers. The assistant managers can't even do the CSM duties. They just yell at them in front of customers and don't give them the recognition that they deserve.
Wal-Mart does not review all the policies to their associates and they find a way to fire someone if they are not their kind. The managers and assitant managers all have their favorites. These people kiss their asses and are given so many breaks and they don't get fired. I remember one customer service worker cussed out a customer on the phone and just walked off the job. The manager didn't even fire him. To me that was unethical of them. What they did was moved him into another department. I could tell that he is one of their favorite. He broke the policy of being unethical. All the managers should be fired for that. Why does the district manager do anything about this. I was fired for integrity issue, but it's ok for other people to be given excuses and still nothing was done to them.
whatever happened to being a family store? the three abscence policy and "no exception" attitude. i say this becuase early this year i was diagnosed with cancer had a roll over car accident and my was sick with a 104.5 fever and in the hospital. i lost 2 pints of blood IN THE STORE and they still gave me a dday for these abscences. had a coaching for a coupon done wrong already. i was on loa for 9 months and when i came back i fought it tooth and nail mt store manager refused to do anything about it saying "were only fallowing policy" well far as i knew policy was coatching within reason. well, she did nothing until i went to hr and when they emailed her she immidietly decided to release that penalty (i had already brought in all proof needed) exsplaining to me "im taking it off because i beleive everyone deserves a second chance" .... a second chance? like i had any choice in these situations. aug! ill never think of walmart the same again, but its not like they care. a family store? seems to me they have no value of human life at all!
Well I am still a associate at Walmart, i got wrote up for running out of chemical in the photo department but 3 males had done the same thing before me and they did not get wrote up and one male after me, Yes I am female,i got a hold of ethic department and they wanted the dates of all of them . well of course I didn't have the dates so did NOTHING. I transferred to a different store so I could see a Assistant Manager in less than 6 month the new store had me on a D Day BTW I had did almost 7 years with that one write up. I stepped down to go to different store from Dept manager to Cashier, Being cashier I have serious back problems and it came that I was in serious pain so I went on a Leave of Absents per my Doctor, the specialist said it i was to dangerous to do surgery on my back. When I took my papers for my LOA in I was told in front of my Assistant Manager Boyfriend that my job was on the line the the personal Manager because I took LOA. I have been off work since May 22, 2010 I got 4 months of short term disability and they they would not give me anymore said I did not qualify. I asked if I could do a sit down job due to the fact that I can not stand more than 15 minutes at a time, I was told NO Walmart has no sit down job. Had I been able to have a sit down job I could have went back to work the first month. Walmart is suppose to be a Family Oriented business yeah right, They are a bunch of lies and scammers. Yo this day I am still on LOA and every time I take my paperwork in I get some kinda nasty comment, Upper Management will not speak to me and have gotten all associate not to talk to me. They know what they are if you don't get in with the click or kiss there butts you ca for get it. I have been told that I was illegally parked when other's were parked beside me but no one said a word to them. i have developed a serious depression problem, I cry all the time and do you think the Walmart,INC cares, I depend on my pay only as I am not married, I have begged and borrowed from people to keep going. I am about to give up. I can't quit cause I won't get my unemployment so I just have to wait for them to fire me and hope I can get unemployment. The people that are in charge of Walmart corp need to get a life, they are being beat out in sales by places like meijer, target and other people and they wonder why because half the associates that work there are just plain rude to customers. they treat their assistants like they are scum. I thought when I started there it was a good place to work but have since found out that it is a shit place to work you are a body nothing else. If people ask when how it is to work at Walmart I tell then the truth it is terrible. And if you get fired you can get your job back but if you quit and give a two week notice they will not hire you back that happened to my daughter , she gave them two week notice and then tried to get back into Walmart and they would not hire her back.I can not work now useless I find a sit down job or I have to go on disability which takes 3 years to get on. Walmart has made me lose everything. And don't think it is a secure job unless you kiss butt, are in the click or tell on everyone cause Walmart is the biggest scam I have ever seen.Their open door policy is a joke.And if you are a good worker you get in trouble cause they will make up stuff on you, If you are a terrible worker and threaten people with blades, steal lunches and steal they will promote you. BTW I could have said my job started my back pain but I didn't blame it on Walmart, I was born with this problem and I knew it but being a cashier aggervated it
