like in the comment above i think they will go under. to many walmarts are being built what on every corner it seems . im from jax fl. the ones they r hiring either cant read or dont care they plugg im so tired of training ppl its sicking the ones ive been getting check this out they go on 45 minute breaks takes 2 to 3 hour lunchs and when i tell or let mgr know oh dont worry i'll say something yeah right its all on your color we have one mgr u ask him something just to clarfiy that your doin it the right way and he talks down to u or talks to u like ur stupid he preaches to us on lunch now weve let store mgr know about this but has he done anything nooooooooooo its all about the money thats all it comes down to is the money . sam is probly rolling around in his grave at how mgrs treat us and what about this bonus ewwwww weeeeeeeeee 99 bucks as much as walmart makes thats all we freakin get for busten our asses is 99 bucks thanks for listenin to me

(5411). The managers are helpful and the open door policy is great. Maybe other stores have some problems but I think it's few that do. Stop complaining to us and complain to someone that can help you. As if we don't have other things to do.
Hi, I do not have a problem with my CSM's, but do have a problem with others within the store. I was not properly trained and as I work I learn more things that I should of done, but was not told to do. I have a problem with higher management such as HR personnell, the Managers of my department. I am going to be talking to the store manager soon and will see if my diagreement is fixed. You see I fainted at the store while working, totally passed out, went to ER. Off the next day regular day off, went back to work next day got sick went to ER again, was diagnosed with Panic/Anxiety disorder. I was put on no more than 25 hours a week which I work know 31 hours...anyhow they said I had to go on FMLA because they do not accomadate restrictions. Yet, we have a lady who has cancer and goes to kemo/radiation treatments fainted in bathroom and fell in toilet and came back to work and accomadated her work schedule, and we have a lady who had back surgery and does self checkout only with sitting on a chair. Oh but get this another lady who has spinal something is to have a chair on the day shift and the said no to her. I am to have back surgery(minor) a interstim put in my back and the restrictions will be no lifting over a galon of milk for 6 weeks, and she said would have to go on FMLA again cuz can't accomadate me. Yet another manager said I could do people greeting or be trained on self check outs. My restriction of hours is only for a month, and they said they had to do this because I would be a liability, yet the lady with cancer is not, and the one with back deasease is not. We even have a lady who is partially blind and has her seeing eye dog with her and works that is accomadating someone with a disability is it not? Any suggestions would be great.

i work at store #5390 and there is an issue with and employee there at the bakery. we have talked to all the management team and wont do nothing. all the ladies in bakery are giving her hell,kicking,pushing and even tripping her.WHY DONT THEY DO ANYTHING!!!!! they did all this within 5 days. not fair. all they talk in the meeting are we help them with saftey.WHY ARENT THEY HANDLING THIS THE RIGHT WAY? WHY DO WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO THEM AND THEY WONT HELP US OUT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION AND IT IS GETTING OUT OF HAND!!!! WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP WE SHOULD TAKE? ALL THESE OTHER LADIES ARE SAYING THAT SHE IS CRAZY AND THAT SHE IS A CRYBABY. ALL OF THE OTHER DUMB ASSES ARE IN TOGETHER THEY HAVE AND AGREEMENT TO GET HER OUT OF THERE AND ITS JUST PURE RACISM. I work at Walmart as a cashier. During my 8 months there so far, I have seen and experienced many things that has greatly lowered my original opinion on Walmart. I was happy to be hired there, but after I completed my CBLs I had a mere 15 minutes of training on a register before I was left alone. After a week or so, I was commented on by a CSM as being, "that guy that learned real quick." At Christmas Eve I was fired without notice because our store let all seasonal employees go after their shifts on Christmas Eve. Without any notification at all, I was unable to clock in the day after Christmas and that's when I was finally told I had been fired and subsequently re-hired that day. After I was re-hired I learned that my previous 4 months of working meant nothing, and now my re-employment started with another 90 days and a fresh history at Walmart. Now, 8 months later, I can't even get a bonus that I should be getting, because they split my employment up: one part is the 4 months previous to Christmas, the other is the new period after my re-hire. I am being paid $7.65 an hour, working my ass completely off, all the while getting many compliments from customers, department managers and asst. managers, even the store manager. They refuse to give me a raise, even though most other cashiers in my Walmart are making $8.05 and doing jack shit. I was transferred to the Garden Center in January with no notice or even anyone asking if I wanted to. However, they kept me up front until one day, nearly 3 months later, the department manager for the garden center came in fuming telling the CSMs not to keep pulling me from the garden center. I had no idea I even worked back there! Walmart... it's a joke.
i worked for walmart in toledo ohio for 3 months and i've noticed some things that bug me so bad. our managers are a joke not only do they all tell you something different to do(i'm a csm) and then yell at you for not doing what that manager asked you to do and you get crap from things you dont even do(3rd shift will leave the backroom a mess and we get crap for carts laying around). the favortism in my store is so out of hand theres no friendly hello's they are just fake, every employee it seems like they are nice to your face then start rumors behind your back then you get looked like your trash. doing your job then going around doing everybody eles' and not even getting a good job or a thank you is getting really old. this is just a job and in this economy theres nothing out there so i'm just hanging tight.
I used to be a CSM, and you sure are right about not getting any thanks for all that we do. Sometimes it seemed like we go through more than the asst. managers do. I got so tired of getting yelling yelled at for carts and lines, and a backed up service desk, and so many other things that wouldn't have been a problem if our asst. managers (four in less than a year over the front end) would schedule people during the times we need them. After Christmas I, along with 4 other CSM's at my store, gave up our stressful positions for different jobs within the store. It may have been a pay drop, but I am alot happier that I was. And I'll be going back to school this fall so I can get out of Walmart for good!!
I have worked for Walmart 5 years now and know exactly what each and everyone of you are saying. I had on asst. manager yell at me and my response was, "EXCUSE ME, certainly YOU are not speaking to ME." First OFF no one speaks to me that way, I do not talk to you that way and Walmart does not pay me enough for YOU to speak to me that way. It has never happened again.
My second run in with management was I had put in for two weeks off in Feburary without pay, for a cruise. She came to me (who was not even over me)and told me that
I didn't ask her for time off. My answer was,"Well I did not know I had to since you are not over me.
First off it has already been finalized by managemnt that IS over
me. Now if you want me to cancel trip I can and will do that BUT you or Walmart will return my $3500.00 am not hard to get along with." Her responce was oh never mind.
Our new store manager and co were not friendly at all. The co called me Sara so I didn't answer him, (his name is Ryan) he came over to me and asked me to do something thing and my answer was, "I will get right on that Ralph" Well you could have knocked him over. He knows my name is Sharon and he now calls me that when he sees me.
I truely beleive that they are trained to intimidate the employees.
I say good morning to everyone. I leave no one out, I am always smiling and happy go lucky. I don't always feel like it, BUT I find that there is NO manager in our store who doesn't say good morning. My trick is I treat everyone with respect. BUT I have left them know that I EXPECT it back. This seems to work with me. I pray that these few tricks will help all of you.
My last store manager was always working out on the floor and was a good ole boy, BUT we never got any bonus. Well, the new kid on the block as I call our now store manager, walks the floors, and seems to know what he is doing as next pay we will received our third bonus check. We opened our new store March of 2008. March of 2009 we were named store of the month, and April we were named store for that quarter, BECAUSE the new kid on the block is busy crunching numbers and making us change things around, all I know is that it works.
JUST do not let them intimidate you.
I work at store #3527, and while we do have our problem employees(namely a racist csm or two and their pet cashiers who are allowed to do anything they want), MOST of our managers are decent individuals..All store's have their issues, and if you don't like working there, as succinct as it sounds, leave. No place is worth your sanity...
Fuck you all. All you people that are complaining are probably lazy asses that are pissed bc you get in trouble for not doing anything but piss and moan while you are at work, or you were fired for something. GET OVER IT. And to those of you who still work there and are complaining, FUCK you even more. Go find another fucking job. wal-mart doesn't need you.
To those of you wishing for walmart to fail or go under....use your goddamn heads. Look at how many jobs that would lose. Not only the employees of the store but walmart has warehouses, distribution centers, associate care call centers, gas stations, all kinds of stuff. So why would any normal person wish for so many people to lose jobs just because they dont like theirs? Go to hell you fucking morons.
My store (1835) Has great managers and CSMs. They're friendly and helpful. Being a cashier at walmart is one of the most boring jobs ever, but thats basically the only bad thing about it...In my store, anyway. I love our CSMs and managers.

lol i agree with the two comments above mine, i'm a cart pusher at a wal-mart super center and our CSM's are ass-holes, the main managers are ass-holes, pretty much everbody their that has power is an ass-hole, even most customers are ass-holes too us...BUT they still give me decent hours and put up with my shit so i'm not complaining. i dont plan on working there long but while i am fine with how things are. In fact the only thing i have a problem with is the fact that 2 of our cart pushers are mentally retarded (not that i have a problem with that) and they NEVER work but they still have their job because wal-mart benefits from it somehow (i'm not sure how, i think its a tax write off or something)
In this economy, I am grateful to have any job, even one at WalMart, but that does not give them the right to treat us like garbage and exploit us. We are constantly taken advantage of and pushed beyond the limits of what is ethical in a workplace.
Some of our CSM's are great while others are self-indulgent jerks. Some of the managers are good and others are jerks: I understand that is how it will be at any retailer. I have worked retail for almost a decade, but what I've seen at WalMart is by far the worst.
One hand doesn't know what the other is doing, there is no communication, our truck unloaders were critized for "hiding behind safety" and using it as an excuse to go slow in their jobs. After being harassed, they sped up and one guy had his head cracked when he was hurt in a completely avoidable accident. If they had been left to do their jobs the way they know how, he would have been fine.
I'm sure some stores are better, but I would strongly advise people to look elsewhere and see what retail is really like away from the impersonal, faceless bureacracy of WalMart.

My issue is 2 weeks ago got bad flu,virus,whatever,,anway missed two days,went back next day, got worse,was then out 2 more days, I couldnt even stand up let alone stop pukin, dont you knoe they called me in office 2 weeks later to give me verbal on my attend. I had 5,there are peeps n my store with 12 to 26 call outs and no coachings,I had already spoken to my str mgr about being treated unfairly,he laughed, Im sick of it, I didnt deserve that,now who do I go to,Market?? They are pals,nothing will happen...My nerves are shot,feel like I am being targeted every day when I walk in the door,all because I P***** mgmt off,where is the respect here,why does corporate not do anything,I even wrote letter to ethnics, yeah,that helped, they told me to talk to my store mgr.HELLO, did you not just read what I wrote,I did talk to store mgr and got no where,Where does it end and why we gotta be treated like crap everyday,Im thinking about hiring attorney,filing suit for stress,being targeted daily and mental stress this is having on me
With any large corporation, you are going to have the good guys and the assholes. Unfortunately, the percentages go up as Walmart continues to get bigger. The sad fact is, Bentonville boardroom people are so far removed from what it is that actually goes on day to day on the store levels. This is my second go-round as an employee of Walmart. I believe that if you are a lifer for retail, it's a great company. But if you see yourself doing something else with your life, Walmart will effectively drain the life out of you. It's sad to say, but true.
I work on the IMS team and we are so busy making the paperwork look good so that district, regional, and corporate stay off of managements' backs, that we are not actually taking care of the problems that exist. Our inventory is less than a month out and we, literally, do not have time to fix the inventory problems we know exist, because we are spending that time bringing our bin accuracy up so that everyone looks great. They won't listen to us and don't care what the issues actually are. I fully understand that the managers have over 400 employees and their subsequent problems to deal with on a daily basis. And to every person in the store, their problems are more important than the next person. It's a difficult position to be in to have to categorize and prioritize the problems of other people. My only issue with that is that the problems I bring to the management team are not problems I have for myself, but that the store has with it's money.
The only thing I know right now is that I am not going to be a retail lifer and I'm in the process of looking for another job while I finish my degree. My sincerest wish for Walmart and it's billions of employees worldwide is that someone takes the time to get corporate back in touch with the store level problems. Because without that, the compassion that they have (outside the media and bullshit) for their average employee is going to keep dwindling into non-existence.
I'm an unloader, and I enjoy my job quite a bit. The thing I don't enjoy is working 4-6 hours to finish our truck before being allowed a single break or lunch. They claim they let us take our breaks, but they also know none of us will because we don't want to leave the rest of our team to deal with our position whilst unloading (generally, one person covers six pallets or so, doubling that can get quite impossible). This problem is not my chief annoyance, however....what I HATE, is how we cannot go on break or lunch until the Frozen and Dairy truck arrives and is unloaded, which takes about half an hour. Idk why they send over one person with a jack to help us six unloaders do the job that really should be the dairy team's to begin with. We get our work done steadily and always finish on time, we don't need to be taking the burden of another associate's task just because it speeds up production.
I work at WalMart. Honestly i love my job. The only bad thing is that 3rd shift always leaves the backroom a mess!! Which makes it hell trying to do Break-Packs during the GM Unload. But other than that. I have no bad things to say!!! To everyone putting walmart down and saying you wan them to go under...Thats THOUSANDS of jobs lost. But what do you care? Half of you are probably on welfare anyways!!!!!!!!!
You know the people who say talk to Wal-Mart about what is going on at there store has never called home office.I worked at a Wal-Mart #2894 Oakland MD 2150 and that place has had so many people call them from the people that work there to the people who shop there and they never do anything to the mangment that works there.We have had people fighting, Mangment calling people stuid,have had women workers rubing it up against of male workers i hate it when people use sex to get what they whant.And mangment is a bad joke Wal-Mart does not do anything to there bad Mgr. Wal-Mart need to treat there Mrg like they treat the other workers and things would be df.And what the hell is up with the time thing you have to do this in a time lim.but then some peopl don't even have a time what the hell isn't everybody the same!! Wal-Mart just sucks..Till they do somthing with there bad mrg.This will always be bad at Wal-Mart.You an get home office number off the internet.Think we need to get together and all call them the same day!!And have a lawyer read them there own Rules I would go as far to take a lie test aginst all mgr at store #2894.Any day
Overall, I can understand what a lot of you are saying. I have worked for two different Wal-Mart Stores, but they are night and day in comparison. My first job with them was awful. I was screamed at daily on the salesfloor, used as a scapegoat, and told they only hired me to cover vacations, then let me go when vacations were done. I hated it.
The store I work for now is the best place I have ever worked. We have a basketball hoop in receiving, books, a big flat screen, dvds and player in our break room. In about 25 more days, as long as there arent any accidents anywhere, we get to have a WII in our breakroom. My managers are friendly, genuine. My coworkers are happy, I'm happy. Where absences are concerned, if you can give them some kind of note or whatever, they basically strike it from your record.
I know that there are bad stores, and I agree that that needs to change, but what people forget is that there are good stores too. Even before I started working here, I hated Wal-Mart, but I didn't wish unemployment on all those who work for them.
If there have been issues for you, Keep climbing up the ladder as far as who to report it to, or call the ethics hotline. Thats what these things are there for. A random person on the internet can't help you solve these problems.
